About Us
Based in Boronia, Victoria, Flip OT is a mobile paediatric occupational therapy service empowering children to achieve their goals. We specialise in working with children with developmental and motor disorders, including cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, Down syndrome, developmental coordination disorder and autism spectrum disorder.
We are family centred, meaning that your child and their family is included in the process of goal setting and therapy provision. Your family’s strengths are recognised and built upon in therapy. Home programs are provided to boost therapy outcomes.
We love seeing children achieve independence in life skills, such as getting dressed by themselves, mastering all the skills involved in toileting, learning the foundations of handwriting, organising their belongings, or preparing their own snack / meals. We will assess the need for and prescribe assistive technology as required in order to achieve these functional outcomes.
Improving participation in home life, school, or the community, is often the long term goal within occupational therapy. At Flip OT we love to work collaboratively with school staff, other allied health professionals, carers and support workers to increase the transference of skills between OT and other settings. We are passionate about seeing young people gain life skills in order to allow them to participate more independently in the activities that are meaningful to them.

Our Therapist
Nicola Johanson is passionate about helping kids become their very best. She has a bachelor in occupational therapy, and over 10 years experience as a paediatric occupational therapist in both special schools and private practice settings.
Nicola loves seeing the joy on kids faces when they achieve goals they once thought were unachievable. She uses evidence-based practice to ensure she is giving her clients the best therapeutic intervention for their needs. She has a particular interest in movement disorders, including cerebral palsy and developmental coordination disorder. She is trained in the Cognitive Orientation to Occupational Performance (CO-OP) Approach.
Nicola has a particular passion for seeing people with disabilities participate in the community. In the winter she volunteers with Disabled Wintersports Australia as an on-snow guide, assisting people with disabilities to experience the sport she loves most - skiing and snowboarding. Nicola is a Mum to 3 young boys, and understands the tricky nature of trying to integrate therapy into home life and routine.
